Revd Prebendary Dr David Nixon retires.

Thursday 3rd July 2025

I plan to retire from the parish and my role as Area Dean on 31 July 2025, with a final Sunday on 6 July to celebrate St Thomas.
I shall be staying in Exeter in St David’s but plan on a proper break from Church stuff for at least 6 months. Thereafter, I don’t know.

You may wonder about this timing: I shall be able to receive a State Pension in the summer which will be in addition to my Clergy Pension,
but I am also still enjoying (almost!) all of what I am doing here. I did not wish to wait until I had run out of energy or started getting more irritable, and as I said aloud on Sunday morning I’d like to leave while the party is in good swing.

With the Staff Team, we will try to ensure that there are interim plans, and with the Archdeacon the parish will plan for a new appointment.
At the forthcoming APCM on 25 May, it is even more imperative therefore that there are two Churchwardens elected and a full PCC.

I know that over the coming weeks and months I shall be able to catch up with many of you. I shall pray for you for the future, as I hope you will pray for me. I also want to say thank you now for the last 7 years – for all your support and enthusiasm, but there will be time to do that more personally.
